Paint the World continued to break boundaries in 2022, which included showcasing our Symbols Series and Cities Series at exhibitions in New York City and Lisbon (pictured above).
Our Symbols Series is an exploration of archetypal symbols that arise from a community’s collective unconscious & how we can strategically use the appearance of these symbols in art to better understand community needs.
Our Cities Series highlights cities that have clear trajectories of benefiting from increased access to the arts. The goal is to amplify research that strongly correlates a community’s investment in the arts with its economic prosperity.
Planetiers World Gathering
The Lisbon Exhibition was highlighted at the Planetiers World Gathering which brought together over 270 speakers, including Paint the World founder Bethany Halbreich, and 17,000 participants. During the three day event, attendees also collaborated on a blank canvas, as part of our continuing movement to empower communities through the collective unconscious.
Launch of Paint the World’s Symbols Database
The exhibitions also coincided with the launch of our symbols database – a database of 900+ artworks and the symbols which appear in each. It’s a repository of pieces throughout history as well as modern street-art
