Bethany helps organizations leverage what they’re good at, extract the best ideas, and strategize creative and effective execution. She is the Founder & Executive Director of Paint the World and runs Incipe Labs, a boutique innovation consultancy.

The Blank Canvas Method™ is an immersive workshop series that has been used by companies and organizations in more than 14 countries, and is facilitated by the team of Paint the World, a 501©3 not-for-profit organization that works to activate community-driven solutions through enabling opportunity for collective creativity. We believe in harnessing the power of a blank canvas, both metaphorically and physically. A seminal challenge in any working environment is remaining productive and inspired amidst ambiguity.
Whether an employee is undertaking something they've never done before or required to solve an unfamiliar challenge with a wildcard element, The Blank Canvas Method™ team is committed to helping your team feel confident they have tools to thrive in any scenario. Our workshop series is designed to tap into the creative capacity of both individuals and teams, facilitating a unique set of well-balanced activities that will spark new ways of thinking and new pathways for creative development within the work environment.

Organizations can select 1-2 main activities that suit their specific needs. We highly recommend all groups include The Blank Canvas Analysis because this is a custom activity we work to make unique for each city we visit.
1 | The Blank Canvas Alignment
~4 hrs
- Goal: The Blank Canvas Alignment is a collaborative workshop activity that works to bring team members together. This activity also allows coworkers to be on the same page, and helps ideas align with the greater goals of the company or organization. From this activity you can also expect an increase in cohesion, performance, and helping create a more productive culture.
- Details: This activity integrates your creative business model that allows teams to work & come together to align their goals, values, roles, and purposes within the organization. This is done by instructor led discussion, paired with the group building on a blank canvas. The end result is a blank canvas that reveals the organizations alignments & enhances team collaboration through the process.
- The main benefits of this particular team canvas are:
2 | The Blank Canvas Group Solution
~3 hrs
- Goal: The Blank Canvas Group Solution is a collaborative workshop activity that works to increase creative confidence and collaborative problem solving capacity of the collective. Helping bring team members together by providing a visual window of understanding into the community of participants.This activity also allows coworkers to be on the same page, and helps ideas align with the greater goals of the company or organization. From this activity you can also expect an increase in cohesion, performance, and helping create a more productive culture.
- Details: During this interactive activity a cylindrical canvas will be set up by our team, and the group will join together in collaboration on this canvas. This activity utilizes research and methods from our founder/CEO Bethany Halbreich. Once the group has completed the canvas, the instructors and the group will work to analyze the painting. An informative presentation will also be provided and reviewed during this analysis. We then use this information to identify gaps in that company (we will know of the common gaps & help identify) & provide tools for the group to begin implementation to success.

3 | The Blank Canvas Guide
~2.5 hrs
• Goal: Guided prompt session paired with painting & presentation is a strategic way to better understand yourself and others around you. This activity is designed to align teams, increase collaboration, and tap into innovative thinking through creativity. Guided meditation/instructions helps individuals enter their creative space with the help of the instructor.
• Details: The instructor(s) will guide the group through a pre-selected prompt that will be specific to the organization. Through this guided prompt, the group will paint/draw what they are feeling or experiencing. Once the guided painting is completed, the group will then present each of their final pieces and an open discussion will begin. In doing this activity, the group can expect to increase awareness for one another, tap into their creative capacity, spark innovative thinking, and be introduced to a new way of observing themselves and others.
• The main benefits of this particular team canvas are:
4 | The Blank Canvas Analysis
(Symbols Series + City Series)
~4 hrs
- Goal: The Blank Canvas Analysis* is a collaborative workshop activity that works to bring team members together, and helps groups understand each other on a deeper level. Along with this collaboration, the groups will be learning valuable tools on how to analyze common symbols of art in their own community. This activity also allows coworkers to be on the same page, and helps ideas align with the greater goals of the company or organization. From this activity you can also expect an increase in cohesion, performance, and helping create a more productive culture.
- Details: We will be using jungian symbol series analysis to get to know your community better. In doing this activity, the group can expect to increase awareness for one another, tap into their creative capacity, spark innovative thinking, and be introduced to a new way of observing their local community.
- The main benefits of this particular team canvas are:
+ Strengthening a team
+ Clarifying & understanding goals.
+ Addressing performance
+ For example; when a team is feeling stuck or when you need to increase productivity in a short period of time.
+ A way to help grow and onboard new teammates.
+ This is also a great workshop to circle back on & is best implemented with series sessions every 2-3 months.
+ Increasing critical thinking & innovative thinking through creativity.
